Walter Panas High School inducts 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame Honorees

Walter Panas High School inducted the Athletic Hall of Fame honorees into the 2025 Hall of Fame as part of a half-time ceremony during the Walter Panas-Peekskill football game on Oct. 24. The honorees are Josias Luctamar ‘18, track and field record setter, and James Lindsay ‘98, winning player and coach of the Lakeland-Panas Rebels Lacrosse team, including three state semi-finalist teams..

Josias Luctamar ‘18 still holds the Panas record for long jump at 23-2, which placed him second in federation competition. Captain for two years, he was All League, All County, All Section, All State and All Federation for Long Jump and High Jump (Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field) and All Section four times in the 200 meter. Luctamar was also fifth in the state high jump (6-6) and long jump making him one of only four athletes in the last decade in the state to finish ranked in the top five for both events.

At Stony Brook, he recorded a number of personal bests and placed second in the high jump and long jump at the Stony Brook University Snow Flake Spring Opener with marks of 1.75 m and 6.42 m respectively. He also placed seventh in the long jump at the Wolfie Invitational before jumping his career best 6.78 m at the Penn 8 Team Select and being named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Luctamar is currently a mechanical design engineer for Boeing Company.

James Lindsay ‘98

James Lindsay left his mark as both a player and a coach. Captain of the lacrosse team for one year while at Panas, Lindsay scored 110 career goals and had 91 career assists during his high school career. He was named to the All-League and All-Section teams three times each and was also a two-year member of the Hudson Valley Empire State Games team.

Lindsay, who was captain at University of Albany (SUNY) for two years, captured the MVP title during a career where he scored 33 goals and had 48 assists. As a coach, Lindsay continued his winning ways leading the Lakeland Panas Rebels to three Regional Championships and the State Semi-Finals.

A teacher at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School for over 20 years, Lindsay coached the Lakeland Panas Boys Lacrosse team from 2006-2022, earning Section One/USILacrosse Coach of the Year honors in 2007, 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2017. The team won the Murphy Cup in 2007 and 2010, took the Sectional Championships four times and went on to being State Semi-Finalists three times after capturing the Regional Championships.

Today, Lindsay coaches the Somers Youth Lacrosse Program and the Predators Youth Lacrosse Program. He is also a board member of the Hudson Valley Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
