Westchester County Veterans Museum Unveils New Educational Exhibit

The Westchester County Veterans Museum newest exhibit, Evolution: 250 Years of Military Gear, is now on view, featuring authentic artifacts and immersive displays that showcase how military equipment evolved to meet the needs of soldiers.

Evolution: 250 Years of Military Gear explores the transformation of military equipment and technology across 250 years of service and sacrifice. Featuring authentic artifacts including boots, headgear, uniforms, camouflage, firearms, dog tags, communications equipment, medical supplies, haversacks and field rations, the exhibit provides an up-close look at the evolving realities faced by American service members throughout history. Interactive touch-screen components further enhance the experience, offering visitors of all ages an educational and engaging way to connect with the past.

Acting Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Peter Tartaglia said: “The Westchester County Veterans Museum continues to be an important educational resource for our community. This new exhibit offers a fascinating and interactive experience that will inspire curiosity, spark conversation and deepen appreciation for the men and women who served our country.”

Director of the Veterans Service Agency Joshua Gaccione said: “Evolution: 250 Years of Military Gear bridges the gap between generations, allowing interactive access into the tangible items servicemembers carried into battle from the hope for liberty in the Revolution to the conflicts of the twenty-first century.”

Designed to inspire curiosity and encourage learning, the exhibit offers an enriching experience for students, families, veterans and history enthusiasts alike.

Museum hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is also open on Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Admission to the museum is free. Donations are welcome and help support the museum’s ongoing educational mission and preservation efforts.

The Westchester County Veterans Museum is located within Lasdon Public Gardens and Veterans Memorial, at 2610 NY Route 35 in Katonah.
