The routes to be presented would create a trail connection between two existing sections of RiverWalk north and south of the bridge, essentially closing the largest last remaining gap in that trail in Tarrytown.
The meeting will take place from 1–3 p.m. at JCC on the Hudson, 371 S. Broadway in Tarrytown. The open house event is structured to allow for people to drop in within a time window to learn about and comment on the possible routes.
The trail connection project also is working to link the shared-use path over the new bridge with RiverWalk to enhance regional trail connectivity. Two connections are envisioned and will also be shared with the public for comment.
The project is being advanced by a project coalition being led by Scenic Hudson that includes the New York State Thruway Authority, Village of Tarrytown, Westchester County Planning, Department of State, and Metro-North Railroad. Stantec is providing the engineering services with funding provided by the New NY Bridge Community Benefits Fund and a private donor.
The workshop materials will be made available on the Village of Tarrytown website after the open house so those unable to attend can submit comments remotely.
About Scenic Hudson
Scenic Hudson helps citizens and communities preserve land and farms and create parks where people experience the outdoors and enjoy the Hudson River. We also bring together people, businesses and government to protect the river and natural resources that are the engines of the valley’s local economies. Started in 1963 by a handful of citizens who cherished the simple pleasures of the outdoors along the Hudson, Scenic Hudson is credited with launching the modern grass-roots environmental movement. Today, in the face of new challenges and the effects of climate change, we are dedicated to making the Hudson Valley a great place to live, work and play. Our focus is on strengthening and maximizing benefits all can enjoy from the region’s great assets—beautiful open spaces, working farms, and vibrant cities and town centers. www.scenichudson.org
