The New York Working Families Party (WFP) has officially announced its endorsement of Ali Jaffery for Village Justice and incumbents Len Simon and Maria Slippen for Village Trustee in the upcoming Croton-on-Hudson village election. The WFP endorsement follows a rigorous screening process designed to identify leaders who prioritize the needs of residents and local transparency. The party’s support highlights a shared commitment to ensuring Croton remains a community that works for everyone.
“As a resident of Croton, I know how important it is to have leaders who prioritize the needs of everyday people. The Working Families Party is proud to endorse Ali Jaffery, Len Simon, and Maria Slippen because they are proven champions for our community. We are excited to support this slate of dedicated public servants who will continue to deliver the transparent, progressive, leadership that Croton families deserve,” said Peter Feigenbaum, Secretary of the WFP Westchester-Putnam Chapter.
“We want to extend our sincere thanks to Village Justice Sam Watkins for his many years of dedicated service to our community.” said Feigenbaum. “As we look toward the next chapter for our local judiciary, we believe Ali Jaffery is the candidate to lead the Court into the future. His commitment to making the court more accessible makes him the right choice for this moment.”
The Endorsed Candidates:
- Ali Jaffery (Village Justice): A Croton resident and attorney with a background in civil and criminal matters, Jaffery previously served as a judicial law clerk and currently practices locally and is the parent of a student at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School.
- Len Simon (Village Trustee): Currently serving as Deputy Mayor, Simon His work on the Board of Trustees has focused on local sustainability, housing, and improving village infrastructure and safety.
- Maria Slippen (Village Trustee): A 20-year village resident, Slippen is running for re-election to continue her work on comprehensive recreation, community engagement, and communication. She has been a key advocate for expanding early voting access within the village.
Nora Nicholson, Croton Village Trustee and Democratic Campaign Manager, welcomed the alliance between the two parties as a necessary step for the current political climate.
“We are grateful for the Working Families Party’s endorsement of our slate,” said Nicholson. “Now more than ever, it is vital that we stand together for our common values. By forming a united front, we can protect our village and provide a local bulwark against the MAGA movement.”
