Former Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney endorsed Cait Conley for Congress in New York’s 17th Congressional District.
“We need a candidate who can beat Mike Lawler and deliver results right out of the gate,” said Maloney. “NY-17 will be one of the most important battlegrounds in the country, and Cait is the best candidate to take this seat back for Democrats. Cait has spent her life serving this country, solving difficult problems, and bringing people together to get things done. She has the experience, the discipline, and the credibility to win this district and be a truly effective voice for Hudson Valley families in Congress and deliver results on Day One.”
“I am deeply honored to have earned the support of Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney,” said Conley. “For a decade, Sean fought tirelessly for the Hudson Valley, as a leader in the Democratic Party and as the first openly gay person elected to Congress from New York. Sean has been a champion for veterans, families, and seniors, fighting to protect our environment, and bring critical infrastructure dollars home to our region. Now, we’re building the coalition we need to win this race, flip this seat, and fight for lower costs, stronger communities, and a Congress that puts people ahead of politics.”
Maloney represented New York’s Hudson Valley in Congress from 2013 to 2023 (then NY-18) and previously served as Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. His endorsement adds to the growing momentum behind Conley’s campaign and reflects increasing support from Democratic leaders focused on winning back the House majority in 2026.
In addition to Congressman Maloney, Cait has earned the support of the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), the Putnam County Democratic Committee, the Dutchess County Democratic Committee, and the Democratic Committees of North Castle, Ossining, Peekskill, Mount Kisco, Kent, Pound Ridge, Cortlandt, and Lewisboro. She also has the support of dozens of other current and former local leaders, Congressman Pat Ryan (NY-18), Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, and more than a dozen national Democratic and progressive organizations, including Vote Vets, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, NRDC Action Fund, and New Dems Action Fund.
