Meet Wally!
Wallendorf or Wally, as he’s more commonly known, was shipped from Fort Worth, Texas to a shelter in Northwest Ohio in 2018 where he was adopted on sight by his mom, who was absolutely smitten by his energetic spirit, obsession over toys, expressive eyes, and dazzling brindle coat.
His first summer with a family, Wally earned his Beginner Obedience Certificate and learned how to protect the family chickens instead of hunting them. After a productive summer on the farm, Wally wanted to see more of the world, so he moved with his adoptive mother to the big city: Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Wally pursuing a dual degree in running and squirrel hunting, sometimes running up to 9 miles in a day with his mom and staring up a tree at a squirrel for just as long. Now Wally lives in New York all grown up (49 in dog’s years) with his mom, dad, and recently adopted sister, Chianti.
Wally is normally not much for shouting, except for when he and his sister play or there is a delivery at the door. The sounds he emits during playful romps with Chianti are reminiscent of whale calls and can be traced to his partial Huskie heritage. One of his other peculiarities is his love of vegetables. He especially loves the crunchy ones, but he is not picky and comes sprinting into the kitchen at the first sound of the cutting board. Wally takes after his parents in that he loves the outdoors!! Although his exact breed is unknown, he certainly has some sight hound in him, as he is laser focused when outside, attuned to any rustling leaf, bird in the sky, or far-off squirrel in a tree. Aside from running and squirrel hunting, his hobbies include paddle boarding, frog hunting at the water’s edge, and being chased with a toy in his mouth. Wally is loyal, intelligent, expressive, a dutiful companion, and intrepid explorer. He is honored to be Pet of the Month and will wear that badge with great pride and responsibility.
