Northwell Northern Westchester Hospital Appoints New Chief Nursing Officer

Quyen Wong, DNP, MPA, RN, NE-BC, a board-certified nurse executive, who is recognized for her innovative work in nursing leadership, financial stewardship and quality improvement, has been named associate executive director of patient care and chief nursing officer at Northwell Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH). With over 20 years of nursing experience and a decade of advancing leadership roles, Dr. Wong brings a wealth of expertise in patient care, clinical operations and strategic healthcare management to her new role.

As NWH’s nursing lead, Dr. Wong will oversee all patient care services involving nursing staff, playing a key role in fiscal planning, regulatory compliance and the hospital’s overall clinical strategy. Responsible for managing a workforce of more than 900 employees, she is committed to fostering a culture of trust, empathy, collaboration and innovation, enhancing the standard of care for patients and their families.

Prior to joining NWH, Dr. Wong served as a senior director of centralized nursing and clinical operations at NYU Langone Health, where she led several key initiatives that expanded clinical services, improved patient satisfaction and optimized operational efficiency. She spearheaded the nursing team in achieving its fifth Magnet designation, regarded as the gold standard of nursing excellence.

In her previous leadership roles at NYU, Dr. Wong expanded the Nursing Resource Team and developed standardized care models, while reducing reliance on agency staffing; implemented initiatives to improve resource utilization and workforce development, including a residency program that transitioned 75% of externs to RN roles; and developed a care transitions program for cardiothoracic patients, reducing readmissions and improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Wong is a member of several prestigious professional nursing organizations, including the New York Organization for Nursing Leadership, where she serves as the secretary of the board, the American College of Healthcare Executives and Sigma Theta Tau, an international honor society for nursing.

She holds a Doctor in Nursing Practice degree with a specialization in leadership, systems and policy from the Yale School of Nursing, a Master of Public Administration degree from Baruch College and a Master of Science degree in nursing administration from the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing.
