Westchester County Youth Bureau and Youth Board Host Annual Sheros Awards

In observance of Women’s History Month, the Westchester County Youth Bureau and Youth Board hosted their annual Sheros Awards ceremony, recognizing three outstanding community leaders who are positively impacting the lives of children, youth and families in Westchester County.

This year’s award recipients were Sade Gilcrest, Director of Operations and Community Engagement, YMCA of YonkersKerry Whelan-Megley, Executive Director, Family Ties of Westchester and Tiffany S.W. Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer, YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester. The March 26 event was held in the Rotunda of the Michaelian Office Building and was well attended by family, friends and colleagues of the honorees.

Youth Bureau Executive Director Ernest McFadden said: “As we gather in March when we observe Women’s History Month, we take time to honor extraordinary women who have shaped, inspired and empowered countless young people through their work and service. I join our Youth Board to celebrate and recognize three amazing women in our community who collaborate with the Westchester County Youth Bureau and are making a difference and impacting the lives of children, youth, and families here in Westchester County.”

Youth Board Chair Dr. Alexandria Connally said: “The Sheros award is a celebration of more than achievement—we celebrate courage, resilience and the power of women who refuse to be defined by limits. The Sheros we honor are not just leaders of today, but trailblazers shaping the future of Westchester County and beyond. On behalf of the Westchester County Youth Board, I am proud to stand with these remarkable women who remind us all that leadership begins with lifting others as we rise.”
