The Arc Westchester welcomed George Latimer as the guest speaker at its annual remote Family Forum held on Saturday, February 21. Many families participated in the interactive discussion focused on the current federal and state budget climate and the potential impact funding cuts could have on people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Congressman Latimer, who represents New York’s 16th Congressional District, shared his ongoing support regarding critical issues, including Medicaid, SNAP, and State Education funding. He addressed questions from families and offered guidance on how they can effectively advocate for their loved ones. He spoke candidly about his concerns for underserved communities and emphasized his commitment to continue pressing for policies that protect people within his district and nationwide.
“George Latimer is a longtime friend and supporter of The Arc Westchester, having served as Westchester County Executive for seven years,” said CEO Tibi Guzman. “We are grateful that he took the time to speak with our families and hear their concerns about the future.”
The annual Family Forum provides families with direct access to policymakers and organizational leadership, reinforcing The Arc Westchester’s commitment to advocacy, education, and community engagement.
