In a heartwarming ceremony at Northwell Phelps Hospital, Katrina Aronoff, Petty Officer 1st Class in the US Coast Guard and Project Manager in Emergency Management at the hospital, was honored with a promotion to the rank of First-Class Health Services Technician. The pinning ceremony, a Coast Guard tradition, symbolized her commitment to service both in the military and in her role within the healthcare system.
Katrina was joined by her son, Evan, and her Chief, Kristine McKenzie, who together participated in this special moment, placing the First-Class insignia on her lapel. “When you receive a promotion in the Coast Guard, you get a pin that goes on your lapel. It’s a symbol of accomplishment and professionalism,” Aronoff shared. “Today was a celebration of that, and it meant so much to me to have my family and Chief here with me.”
McKenzie, a Health Services Chief, spoke proudly of Katrina’s dedication, saying, “Katrina is amazing. She’s not just a fantastic leader in the Coast Guard but also an incredible asset to our hospital. Her drive, professionalism, and heart make her a role model for all of us. I’m truly honored to be part of her journey.”
Beata Mastalerz, Senior Vice President and President of Northwell Phelps Hospital, expressed her admiration as well, adding, “Katrina is the epitome of dedication. She juggles her responsibilities with grace, and her perseverance is an inspiration to everyone. As I always say, when I grow up, I want to be like her.”
