Ossining MATTERS raised more than $30,000 during its 21st Annual 5K/2M Run-Walk for Education on Saturday, September 6. This year’s total marks an increase of over $10,000 from 2024, making it one of the most successful races in the foundation’s history.
More than 240 participants came together under clear skies for a morning filled with energy, community spirit, and celebration. Local food and music from DJ Johnny G added to the festive atmosphere, while dozens of community and school volunteers kept the event running smoothly—assisting with registration, handing out water, and guiding participants along the course.
“This race is a true reflection of Ossining’s strength as a community,” said Caroline Turner, Vice President of Ossining MATTERS and Race Chair. “From our dedicated sponsors to the families who lace up their sneakers each year, everyone plays a role in supporting opportunities that directly impact our students. We’re thrilled to see such growth in both participation and fundraising this year.”

Funds raised from the race will go directly toward innovative programs and resources for students across the Ossining School District. Recent projects supported by Ossining MATTERS include new science equipment at Claremont, a calming space at Park School, book repair machines at Brookside and Roosevelt, fitness center upgrades and PE equipment at Anne Dorner Middle School, and opportunities for high school students to participate in Business Club competitions, robotics tournaments, the Science Olympiad, and environmental education aboard the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater.
Ossining MATTERS extends gratitude to its sponsors: Timing Sponsor Jate Technology Consulting; Gold Sponsor Palisades Fuel; Silver Sponsors Open Door and The College of Westchester; and Bronze Sponsor White Plains Hospital; and Supporter Sponsor Club Fit of Briarcliff. Additional support came from Mile Marker Sponsors, Local Small Business Sponsors, and Friends of Ossining MATTERS. A full recap of the event can be found at www.ossiningmatters.org
