Friends of the Old Dutch Church to Host Reading of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow to Raise Funds for Roof Replacement

The Old Dutch Church is going back to basics. The National Historic Landmark and the oldest house of worship in New York State will be the setting for a spirited reading of Washington Irving’s beloved classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. First published more than 200 years ago, Mr. Irving’s stirring and humorous narrative will come to life once more through original music and hair-raising sounds that will stir your imagination and send shivers up your spine!

Narrator Kerin McCue, along with the church’s music director, Jeremy Goldsmith, promise an unforgettable evening of thrills, chills and good old-fashioned Halloween hijinks that are sure to please the whole family.

In addition to getting into the real spirit of this spookiest of seasons, you’ll also be helping the Friends of the ODC to raise the funds necessary to put a new roof on the Old Dutch Church.

So join us on Saturday & Sunday, October 19 & 20, and again the following weekend, October 26 & 27, at 7 p.m. as we introduce to you such legendary characters as Brom Bones, Katrina Van Tassel and Ichabod Crane in a lively reading of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow at the historic Old Dutch Church at 430 N. Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591.
