For the 39th year, the Ossining Presbyterian Church, 34 South Highland Avenue (opposite the Ossining High School) will be the scene of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner party. Everyone is invited. Some guests come for good food and companionship; some come because of the live music that plays in the background and the gracious hospitality. Last year, 200 meals were delivered to those who requested them and 120 hungry people were served in the Fellowship Hall, with most of them taking meals home afterwards.
The menu is mashed potatoes and gravy, dark and light turkey meat, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce. Apple and pumpkin pies finish off the meal. Three churches work together to make this happen: the Scarborough Presbyterian Church, the Briarcliff Congregational Church, and the Ossining Presbyterian Church. Many people from the community pitch in to help cook, serve, clean, and drive meals to homebound folks. In every sense of the word, it is a community dinner party.
If you want to help (we need lots of that), or you want a meal delivered, call the church office at 914-941-0540 and leave your name and phone number very clearly and we will return your call.
Please celebrate Thanksgiving with us – come at noon on Thanksgiving Day – November 28th.
