Feeding Westchester’s “An Evening in Good Taste” Raises Over $600,000

Feeding Westchester’s An Evening in Good Taste, the organization’s premier annual tasting event and largest fundraiser, raised $612,000 on Thursday night, bringing together 600 guests supporting the fight against hunger in Westchester County.

The event was hosted by Savor Food Hall at The Westchester in White Plains and featured food and drink from 40 Westchester-based restaurants and beverage partners. The county’s vibrant culinary community was front-and-center while supporting Feeding Westchester’s mission to provide nutritious food to the 39% of local households at risk of hunger.

In addition to the tastings, guests participated in a lively auction featuring sports, dining, travel, fashion and wellness experiences.

“We could not be more proud and grateful to be part of this incredible Westchester community after seeing the outpouring of support at An Evening in Good Taste,” said Kristine Borok, President and CEO of Feeding Westchester. “From the passion of our restaurant partners and committee to the generosity of our sponsors and guests, this event reflects what’s possible when a community comes together. Because of this one night, we will provide more than 1.2 million additional meals to our neighbors in need this year.”

Funds raised during the evening will help Feeding Westchester distribute more than 21 million pounds of food this year through its network of 175 partner agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, schools, and community organizations. With government funding cuts totaling $2.4 million this year and more than 6,000 Westchester SNAP recipients at risk of lost or reduced benefits, the public support is needed and appreciated more than ever.

Feeding Westchester partnered with The Thomas H. Slater Center of White Plains to rescue over 200 pounds of unused food at the end of the night. This includes unopened retail packaged items and prepared foods that were not yet served to the public.

An Evening In Good Taste is produced in partnership by Feeding Westchester’s Event Committee, The Westchester, ESP Creative, and Abigail Kirsch.
