The well attended Midsummer Dinner recognized two organizations which have histories of providing for families and individuals in need: The Larchmont Avenue Church (programs such as Midnight Run, “Raise Your Hand,” non-violence and civil rights education) and All New York Title Agency (providing critical title insurance for the many non-profits throughout the county arranging for homeless housing). Also recognized was longtime SHORE Board Secretary Jane Perkinson for her 25 years of dedicated service to the community.
The evening’s agenda also included a SHORE & I CARE progress report by Ken Creary, President of SHORE. The two organizations are in the process of merging their operations to combine and leverage the strengths of both groups. Together they have developed 30 units of housing for homeless families, low-income renters and first-time homebuyers in lower Westchester County. The properties require upkeep and maintenance and Creary announced the intent to establish a Capital Fund to provide a long-term source of funding.
The etched crystal awards were presented to Larchmont Avenue Church (represented by Rev. Dr. William Crawford) by Caroline Silverstone, President of I CARE, and to All New York Title Agency (represented by its principals Joseph Petrillo, Esq. and John Martin, Esq.) by Rosemarie Noonan, Executive Director, Housing Action Council.
