Local Latina Leaders To Showcase Transformative Journey at Jacob Burns Center

Three local school districts are hosting an inspiring evening of storytelling, photography, and film as a cohort of Latina leaders share their transformative educational journey through the majestic Gates of Lodore Canyons. This special event will take place on Monday, December 2 at 6 p.m. at the Jacob Burns Film Center, 364 Manville Road, Pleasantville, NY.

Selected for their exceptional character and leadership potential, these young leaders embarked on an innovative educational exploration to Colorado and Utah, where they spent a week immersed in the awe-inspiring wilderness. During a weeklong river trip at the Gates of Lodore Canyons, they engaged in personal reflection and explored the deeper meaning of community.

Upon returning home, the students worked alongside their teachers to identify meaningful ways to create positive change within their communities. They are now ready to present their Statements of Intent, marking the next step in their journey as Changemakers.

This event is a collaboration between the Ossining School District, Tarrytown Union Free School District, Peekskill City Schools, and Open Roads. Attendees will gain insights into the transformative power of education, leadership, and the impact of community-driven action.
