Jazz Forum Presents Joshua Redman Quartet December 5-7

Joshua Redman Quartet

This year, Jazz Forum Arts marks a major milestone with a musical celebration worthy of its legacy. From December 5 to 7, the acclaimed Joshua Redman Quartet will hit the stage at the Jazz Forum (1 Dixon Lane, Tarrytown) in honor of the organization’s 40th anniversary.

“To celebrate 40 years of presenting Jazz in NYC and the Hudson Valley, we wanted an artist who embodies both the deep traditions and the forward-looking spirit of the music,” says Mark Morganelli, Founder and Executive Director of Jazz Forum Arts.

“Joshua Redman is that artist. His work has shaped modern Jazz, and we are excited to have him and his phenomenal quartet on our stage for this milestone anniversary. We presented Josh several times at sold-out concerts twenty-five years ago and he then joined our Advisory Board when he lived here in Westchester. We are thrilled to celebrate our legacy with this signature event, presenting Josh in his first show at the Jazz Forum, named by Downbeat magazine as one of the world’s top 100 jazz clubs in both 2024 and 2025.”

A revered force in modern jazz, Joshua Redman is known not only for his virtuosic command of the tenor saxophone but also for his boundless curiosity and imaginative spirit. Over a three-decade career, he’s earned 10 Grammy nominations, released 20 influential albums, and consistently topped critics’ and readers’ polls alike.

Joshua Redman’s name resonates deeply in the jazz world as both a gifted improvisor and a profound thinker on the nature and meaning of music. Redman’s artistry defies easy categorization – he’s as comfortable delving into the avant-garde as he is with timeless standards. Always seeking new directions, Redman has collaborated with countless jazz giants plus artists like Stevie WonderYo-Yo Ma and The Rolling StonesHerbie Hancock, and Quincy Jones. As Jazzwise notes, his “soul-bearing tenor” makes it sound as though “he’s actually singing through his horn.”

Now, Redman returns with a bold new chapter. His latest album, Words Fall Short (2025), features an all-original repertoire and a brand-new ensemble, earning praise from critics including The Guardian, which awarded it four stars for achieving “an ideal balance of ingenuity and rapport.”

This exclusive three-night run promises to be a landmark event, not only a celebration of one of jazz’s most compelling voices but a heartfelt tribute to Jazz Forum Arts’ four decades of jazz excellence in New York City, the Hudson Valley and beyond.
