A group of talented Irvington High School students have been invited to perform with the Westchester County School Music Association’s Area All-State ensembles for its 2024 festival concerts on Nov. 2-3. WCSMA is a county unit of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) and the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME).
- Performing with the String Orchestra are Martina Albay (violin), Simran Jain (cello), Lila Nolan (bass), Shaleen Thaker (cello) and Navin Vasudev (viola).
- Performing with the Symphony Orchestra are Lucy Acharekar (violin), Abigail Choi (viola), Kian Vasudev (cello), Alyssum Wong (violin) and Michelle Zhou (violin).
- Performing with the Treble Chorus are Jeneva Preval (soprano) and Lily Korb (alto).
- Performing with the Mixed Chorus is Gabriella Brenner (alto).
- Performing with the Concert Band is Aaron Schwartz (percussion).
“These students are extremely talented and dedicated,” said Debra McCumber, high school band director and music department chair. “It is such an honor to be accepted to this program.”
The students were chosen based on auditions at last spring’s NYSSMA Solo Festival. The highest-scoring students at the festival were invited to apply to participate in the Area All-State music ensembles.
