Gallery B Celebrates Its Roots with a “Summer Retrospective”

This summer, The Rye Arts Center’s Gallery B steps into its own story with Summer Retrospective: The Artwork of Gallery B Artists, a vibrant group exhibition featuring artists who have previously exhibited in the space. From longtime favorites to emerging voices, this “alumni show” serves as a collective portrait of the gallery’s creative DNA.

Since its inception, Gallery B has served as an incubator for regional talent—offering emerging artists the opportunity to present solo exhibitions and grow their professional practice. The gallery’s mission is rooted in fostering artistic development, amplifying local voices, and cultivating a space where experimentation and expression can thrive.

Curated by artist, educator, and 2025 Visionary Artist Award recipient Jill Parry, Summer Retrospective invites audiences to reflect on the many artists who have helped define the gallery’s evolving identity. Many return with new work and fresh perspectives, each contributing to a living archive of Gallery B’s past, present, and future.

“Since its founding in 2022, Gallery B has proudly presented solo exhibitions for exactly twenty artists. Summer Retrospective stands as a touchstone of the gallery’s monumental growth—reflecting its ongoing commitment to the arts, the artists it supports, and the community it serves. The exhibition pays homage to those artists who have cultivated the intrigue and identity of Gallery B, while offering a nod toward future exhibitions and continued creative dialogue..” says Sarah Mackay, Gallery Manager & Exhibitions Curator

Spanning a range of media and styles, the exhibition maps out a shared timeline, charting the momentum of a gallery built on relationships, risk-taking, and return. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or new to the gallery, Summer Retrospective offers a rare chance to witness the trajectory of a space through the work of the artists who made it matter.
