For one show only, Irish American supergroup Cherish the Ladies and international violinist Daisy Jopling will take center stage together for the first time ever in a standout performance of Celtic music at Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, Peekskill, NY, on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at 4pm. Tickets for “St. Patrick’s Day Celebration featuring Cherish the Ladies with Daisy Jopling,” presented by the Hudson Valley Irish Festival, are available at www.paramounthudsonvalley.com.
Jopling and a group of talented student musicians enrolled in the Daisy Jopling Music Mentorship Program will join Cherish the Ladies to celebrate their 40th anniversary in an exhilarating mix of traditional timeless Irish music, stunning vocals, and propulsive step dancing. Jopling is noted for playing classical and popular music on her 1778 Antonio Gragnani violin, made in Livorno, Italy and a Yamaha electric violin with the energy and spontaneity of a rock musician.
“It’s an honor of a lifetime to perform with Cherish the Ladies in celebration of Irish heritage, music and culture—as well as their 40th Anniversary. In this collaboration, we are going to present a blend of traditional Irish entertainment with vibrant violin, making for a memorable afternoon of Celtic culture,” said Jopling.
The Grammy Award nominated Cherish the Ladies was formed to celebrate the rise of extraordinary women in what had been a male-dominated Celtic music scene. Celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, they have shared timeless Irish traditions and good cheer with audiences worldwide. Bandleader Joanie Madden says, “We’re carrying on the music of our fathers.”
Since their founding in 1985, Cherish the Ladies has forged a path for women in the male-dominated Irish music scene, leaving a lasting legacy with 18 critically-acclaimed albums and thousands of performances worldwide, from prestigious concert halls to the Olympics to the White House.
The group is led by the charismatic flute and whistle virtuoso Joanie Madden, a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Award Winner. Other honors include BBC’s Best Musical Group of the Year and Top North American Celtic Group at the Irish Music Awards. Their impressive list of collaborations includes the Boston Pops Symphony, Vince Gill, Nanci Griffith, The Chieftains, Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.

Jopling has toured the world with her own band, the “Daisy Jopling Band” and with the creative string trio “Triology” as well as individual performances. Jopling’s solo work has included playing a concerto at the Royal Albert Hall in London at the age of 14, playing twice before 30,000 people at the opening of the Vienna Festival. In addition, she and her band toured and performed in more than 50 stunning concert halls in China; created “Illuminance” on Bannerman Island, NY which aired on PBS; and performed her own “Awakening” Concert at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. She has recorded nine albums, two with BMG RCA Victor and performed a major concert at the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
Jopling is also the founder of the non-profit Daisy Jopling Music Mentorship Foundation which unleashes young people’s creative potential through the arts by providing world class music mentorships, free workshops, and opportunities to rehearse with and perform live on stage with professional musicians. Local talented students will be performing on stage with Cherish the Ladies and Daisy Jopling on March 16.
