Archbishop Stepinac High School Theatre to Stage Production of The Outsiders

Archbishop Stepinac High School Theatre is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of The Outsiders, adapted from S.E. Hinton’s beloved novel. This powerful production will be held at Stepinac High School’s Major Bowes Auditorium on November 14, 15, and 16, with performances beginning at 6:00 PM each evening. The production showcases the school’s dedication to engaging storytelling and brings to life the compelling tale of friendship, resilience, and the search for identity amid social divides.

Daniel Romero from Peekskill and Addison Valentino from Buchanan are among the cast members.

Christopher Sergel’s play is a faithful adaptation of Hinton’s coming-of-age novel about rival teenage gangs in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Greasers come from troubled working-class backgrounds, contrasted with the Socials, whose members are from upper-middle-class families. Like the novel, the play centers on 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis, a member of the Greasers gang, as he recounts the violent aftermath after his friend Johnny is fatally stabbed by a Socials member, Bob.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring The Outsiders to our stage,” said Frank Portanova ‘93, Director of the Stepinac High School Theatre. “The cast has poured their energy and passion into portraying these complex characters, and we’re proud to share a production that embodies the spirit and challenges of this iconic story.”

The production features a talented cast, with Stepinac’s Kieran Ward ’27 of The Bronx portraying Ponyboy Curtis, Jonathan Guzman ’25 of White Plains as Dallas Winston, Robert Crandall ’28 of Tenafly, NJ as Johnny Cade, and Sacred Heart’s Amy Walsh ’25 of Rye as Cherry Valance.

The cast will also include Stepinac students from the Class of 2025: Jordan Hamers from Yonkers, Ryan Lawrence from Somers, Gabriel Mercado from The Bronx, and Kevin Moyna from Tuckahoe; Class of 2026 student Sebastian Noriega from White Plains; Class of 2027 students John Bohan from Yonkers, Julian Cavallino from Port Chester, Jaden Marrero from Tuckahoe, and Daniel Romero from Peekskill; Class of 2028 students Charles Lawrence from Somers and William Scott from Yonkers; Lakeland High School senior Samantha Burgio from Yorktown; The Ursuline School senior Maddie Cockburn from Harrison and junior Anna Fahy from Crestwood; Maria Regina High School sophomore Brianna Gray from Yonkers and freshman Lilanna Martino from The Bronx; and Hendrick Hudson High School sophomore Addison Valentino from Buchanan.
