Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center is a working crop farm and environmental education facility located in Yorktown Heights, NY. Formerly a dairy farm, and with roots dating back to the 1600’s, today Hilltop Hanover acts as a regional education hub offering programs on healthy and sustainable food production, skills for small-scale suburban and urban farmers, and sustainable living practices for local communities. New Volunteer Orientation – Saturday April 6, 10 a.m. – noon in Building A

Perennial Food Gardens – Saturday April 6, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. in Barn F
Interested in a yearly vegetable harvest, minus the hassle? Join farmer Mike Fedison for a fact-filled workshop on perennials and how to keep them producing year after year. Fee: $20 per person, $5 for children ages 8-12; registration is required.
Berries and Beyond – Saturday April 13, 10 a.m. –noon in Barn F
Join farmer Max Zanke for an informative workshop on how to best establish and maintain healthy berry plants, including site selection, soil preparation, and pruning and harvesting techniques. Registration is required; fee $20 per person, $5 for children under the age of 12.
Beer Brewing 101 – Saturday April 13, noon – 4 p.m. in Barn F
Calling all beer aficionados! Join Westchester Home Brewers Organization and learn how to brew batches of your favorite beer in the comfort of your own kitchen. Discounted starter equipment kits available for purchase. Registration is required; $20 per person.
Earth Day at Hilltop Hanover – Saturday April 20, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Walk the grounds, meet the farmers, and explore the trails. There will be guided tours at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. around the property, where you’ll learn about the different elements that make up a sustainable working farm.
Spin & Knit – Saturday April 20, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Barn F
Gather in an informal atmosphere and be part of a monthly spinning and knitting group. No fee or registration required for first time attendees; $5 for each subsequent class.
Gluten-Free Cooking – Saturday April 20, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. in Barn F
Join culinary nutritionist Mary Opfer for this hand-on workshop and learn how to turn nutritious spring vegetables into delicious, hearty, gluten-free meals. Registration is required; fee $20 per person, $5 for children under the age of 12.
Don’t Bug Me: Preemptive Insect Protection – Saturday April 27, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. in Barn F
This informative workshop will help you to prepare for summer’s inevitable insects, including pest management techniques, interspecies planting, preventative care and more. Registration is required; fee $20 per person, $5 for children under the age of 12
