Matt Berger

Mayor Brian Pugh made the appointment of Matt Berger to fill the vacancy on the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Board of Trustees at the Board’s regular meeting on Wednesday, October 7.

Berger is a graduate of Croton-Harmon High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture with a Minor in Community Planning from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to his appointment as a Village Trustee, Berger served the community as chair of the Advisory Board on the Visual Environment and, most recently, as a member of the Village’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

“Living in Croton-on-Hudson gives you a lasting appreciation for the caring residents who work to make this village such a great place to live. Matt Berger has been doing exactly that for years, on our Visual Environment Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. I also want to share my gratitude to everyone who applied. It is so encouraging to know that our community is home to many talented people ready and willing to step up into public service,” saidPugh.

“Croton-on-Hudson is a special community, and having grown up here, being appointed to the Board of Trustees is a profound honor. I’ve enjoyed working alongside my neighbors on village boards over the years. I’m eager to bring that experience to the Board table. I want to thank Mayor Pugh for this appointment, and I am ready to get to work supporting the residents, neighborhoods, and future of Croton,” said Berger.

The appointment fills the vacancy created by former Village Trustee Nora Nicholson’s resignation from the Board on September 18, 2026. Nicholson was appointed Director of Operations, effective October 2, 2026.

Berger’s appointment to the Board of Trustees will take effect following the administration of the oath of office by the Village Clerk. Berger will serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending in December 2027.
