The Art Gallery at Rockefeller State Park Preserve is proud to present Between the Lines, an exhibition that explores the power of art to tell stories beyond the written word while inviting visitors to discover the many dimensions of the storytelling process.
Between the Lines celebrates acclaimed artists, writers, and animators whose work sparks children’s imaginations, brings poetry to readers’ hearts, and transcends language and cultural boundaries. Curated by Lisa D’Amico, the exhibit showcases the interplay of text and imagery, revealing how stories emerge in countless forms, from fearless superheroes and mischievous creatures to a lovelorn clown and an enchanted wilderness. Together, these works illuminate the rich layers of meaning, imagination, and emotional connection that arise when storytelling extends past the page.
Featured Artists: Nick Bruel, Mike Dolce, Ryan Ehrenkaufer, Betsy Franco Feeney, Ashley Gerst, Lorna Gonsalves, R.H. Lola Koundakjian, Simone Kurtz, Heidi Matonis, Cate McNider, Matilda Rose, Franklin Silva, Richard Thompson, Matthew Van Fleet, and Sam Wedelich.

Between the Lines is on view through August 22 at The Art Gallery at Rockefeller State Park Preserve, located at 125 Phelps Way, Pleasantville, New York. A public reception will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 1:00 to 3:00pm. Gallery hours are Monday through Sunday, 9:30am to 4:30pm.
