Letter to the Editor: Briarcliff Resident Announces Board of Ed Candidacy

Hello Briarcliff Residents,

My name is Amy Marelli, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Briarcliff School District Board of Education. As a Briarcliff High School graduate, I have a deep personal connection to this community and a strong appreciation for the education that helped shape my path.

Today, as both an educator and a parent of three young children, one of whom will be entering Todd Elementary this fall, I am invested not only in where our district has been, but where it is going. I bring over 15 years of experience in education, including 12 years as a classroom teacher and my current role as an instructional coach in mathematics, literacy, special education, and leadership. In my work, I partner with teachers and school leaders to strengthen curriculum and instruction, support meaningful learning experiences, and ensure all students are supported and challenged.

Briarcliff has a strong foundation, and I am committed to maintaining that excellence while continuing to grow thoughtfully. My approach is grounded in a student-first perspective, carefully considering how each decision impacts student learning, experience, and opportunity, while also upholding fiscal responsibility and transparency.

I believe our community deserves clear, honest communication. Families should understand not only what decisions are made, but why they are made and how they support students.

On May 19th, I respectfully ask for your vote.

Sincerely,

Amy Marelli
