The Capa Space, a nonprofit exhibition and education space dedicated to concerned photography, announces its upcoming exhibition “Through Other Eyes: A Community Photography Project,” running from September 13 through November 16.

The exhibition features over 60 photographs selected from an open community call that explores the nuanced space between photographer and subject when they come from different worlds, across boundaries of race, ethnicity, gender, and culture. These powerful portraits reveal our shared humanity while celebrating diverse perspectives and experiences, challenging traditional power dynamics in portraiture to celebrate the complexity of human connection.

“This exhibition celebrates the power of portraiture, that we can all pick up our cameras and document our world,” said Elise Graham, Founder and Director of The Capa Space. “Through these portraits, we can see how photography can bridge differences and create understanding between people from varied backgrounds.”

The exhibition also includes works by established photographers who have previously exhibited at The Capa Space, including Fred Stein, John Shearer, John Moore, Sara Bennett, and others. All photographs in the exhibition will be available for purchase.
