Spotlight on: Kumon of Tarrytown Provides Academic Enrichment

Lillian Brijeski of Kumon of TarrytownKumon, the world’s largest after-school math and reading enrichment program, helps pre-school to high school age students master fundamental concepts vital to success inside and outside of the classroom. Noticing a need for an enrichment program in Tarrytown, local educator and business owner Lillian Brijeski was determined to bring a Kumon Center to the community.

After enrolling her own children in the program 3 years ago, Lillian became a true believer in the Kumon Method of Learning.   The curriculum is designed to foster independent learning skills that allow students to progress through the work, eventually studying above their grade level.

“We truly believe at Kumon that children have unlimited potential to succeed,” said Lillian. “My goal is to help each child develop strong academic skills, a love of learning and the confidence to excel beyond the classroom. My center will focus on the individual needs of children and strive to maintain ongoing communication with both the home and school community.”

Kumon’s personalized approach helps children learn math and reading concepts based on their ability rather than age or grade.  Through the Kumon Method, students build a strong foundation, gaining confidence in themselves and enhancing their independent learning skills.

Kumon of Tarrytown will offer free registration to all families that enroll during the month of June. Kumon of Tarrytown’s class hours are: Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 7:30 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Students study for approximately a half-hour per subject at the center and have short assignments to complete at home.
