The Spring Issue article, “Charter vs. Public Education” has no real value to the readers of River Journal.
Why? Because there are no Charter Schools in any of the River towns. The only Charter Schools are in NY City.
The debate over charter schools is not an amicable discussion; it’s laced with accusations that one side is protecting unionized teachers at the expense of kids’ education, and counter-charges that charter champions are trying to destroy traditional public schools.
The primary reason the writer of this article does not approve of Betsy DeVos is because Ms. DeVos wants charter schools to be an alternative to underperforming Urban schools and to do it without political and union control.
