Work is expected to begin this summer to repair badly damaged sections of Route 9A stretching from just south of North State Road in Briarcliff Manor to the Westchester County Police headquarters near Route 141 in Hawthorne, according to Briarcliff Village Manager Josh Ringel.
Route 117 from the Pace University’s entrance to Route 141 in Pleasantville is also included in the project, which is being overseen by the state Department of Transportation.

Briarcliff officials recently met with DOT representative Dina Colavito to discuss the project, which is intended to address deteriorated road conditions, clean gutters and basins, complete ADA-compliant ramp upgrades, and bring the corridor into better condition while longer-term Route 9A corridor planning continues separately.
The contract was recently awarded, and field work is expected to begin around mid-July. While work is expected to begin this summer, paving is the last phase; whether paving begins this year or extends into 2027 depends on contractor capacity, asphalt plant availability, weather, and other regional construction demands.
Work is expected to occur primarily at night, generally Sunday evening through Thursday morning, from approximately 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. No Friday or Saturday night work is anticipated. Daytime impacts are expected to be limited. When work is active, flaggers will be on site, and emergency and official vehicles will be able to pass through the work zone as needed.
This portion of the corridor has fewer available detour alternatives than prior project areas, so detour planning is under review.
