Astorino Extends Pool and Beach Hours in Response to Heat

Westchester County Beach hours extendedWith several more days of hot, humid weather in the forecast, County Executive Robert P. Astorino has extended the hours at the county-operated swimming areas by one hour starting today, Wednesday, July 17, and lasting through the duration of the heat wave. “We can’t do anything about the heat, but by extending our swimming hours by an hour we can help residents stay just a little cooler,” Astorino said.

The following swimming areas will be open from 11 a.m. to the extended time 7:30 p.m., with no admittance after 7 p.m.:

  • Saxon Woods Pool, White Plains
  • The Brook at Tibbetts Brook Park, Yonkers,
  • Willson’s Waves at Willson’s Woods Park, Mount Vernon
  • Croton Point Beach, Croton-on-Hudson
  • Glen Island Beach, New Rochelle
  • Playland Beach at Playland Park, Rye
  • Playland Pool at Playland Park, Rye

All fees, park pass requirements and proof of residency apply.

Astorino also reminded residents that the Westchester County Health Department has issued a heat advisory. As temperatures rise, residents are advised to avoid strenuous activity, drink plenty of non-alcoholic, decaffeinated beverages, and take precautions to prevent heat-related illness.
