Paving projects announced for Routes 9A, 133 and 100B

On the heels of unveiling a $19.2 million repaving project along Route 9A from Briarcliff Manor to Mount Pleasant, the state has allocated another $8 million to improve sections of Route 133 in the towns of Ossining and New Castle and Route 100B in Greenburgh.

The Route 9A resurfacing will cover the stretch between Belmont Road in Mount Pleasant to North State Road in Briarcliff Manor.

On Route 133, the work will encompass a 2.5-mile section between Pleasantville Road and Route 100. On Route 100B, the work will cover a 1.25-mile stretch between Route 9A and the Sprain Brook Parkway in the Town of Greenburgh.

During an Oct. 29 press conference at the state Department of Transportation yard in Millwood, state Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez said the Routes 133 and 100B projects would go out to bid this winter.

“The engineering’s been done, we’re ready to go … the bottom line is we want to get this work done in 2026,” she said.

Besides milling Routes 133 and 100B to make them smoother, those projects will add high-visibility reflective striping for better navigation, and improved ADA compliance at the intersection of Route 133 and Campwoods Road with a new traffic signal and crosswalks. The majority of the work conducted overnight with single-lane closures to minimize disruption.

Route 133 has long been in the crosshairs of local drivers, prompting an online petition that has garnered 1,120 signatures demanding “immediate attention to be given to the dangerous conditions of disrepair” along the state road, also known as also known as Croton Avenue.

The planned improvements followed calls from state Sen. Pete Harckham and Assemblymembers Chris Burdick and Dana Levenberg for the DOT to pave the badly deteriorated section of state Route 133.
