Yom Hashoah Speaker: Debby Ziering

April 12 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Free

All are invited to the Greenburgh Hebrew Center in Dobbs Ferry to meet and hear Debby Ziering speak about her life as the daughter of 2 Holocaust survivors.

Debby will tell the story of her father, who was born in Germany and was sent to the Riga Ghetto in Latvia and then Kaiserwald concentration camp. She will talk about his life in the US and how he dedicated himself to the exposure, deportation and eventual trial of Nazi war criminals.

Debby co-teaches 8th graders at the SAR Academy in the Bronx, in the Names Not Numbers© Program, an oral history project which enables students to interview Holocaust survivors to learn about World War II and create documentaries. She is also a facilitator for the Safekeeping Stories program.
Debby is a member of the ‘Generations Forward Program’, a group of second and third generation speakers sponsored by the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center, and has presented to and spoken with students and adults in a wide variety of schools and synagogues.

This free event is appropriate for ages 12 and up. Thank you to the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center of Westchester for their assistance making arrangements for Debby to speak at GHC. RSVP (required) and questions to Lisa at AdultEducation@ghcny.org.
