Join EngageAsia at The Aligned Center for a special event featuring a screening of the powerful documentary, “The Vow from Hiroshima.” Following the screening, stick around for a thought-provoking panel discussion with Susan Strickler (Director & Producer) and Mitchie Takeuchi (Writer & Producer). This in-person event promises to be an enlightening and engaging experience about the impact of the atomic bombing and the experience of Setsuko Thurlow, a survivor of the atomic bomb.

Funds raised will support both EngageAsia as well as the From Hiroshima to the Heartlands project that will enable the film to be shown in-person throughout the United States.

This is part of the EngageAsia Film+Makers Series. Vow from Hiroshima has recently been shown at the FDR Presidential Library, The Monadnock Summer Lyceum in NH, The Frick Fine Arts Theater in Pittsburg, PA Naropa University in Colorado Springs, the Perry house at the University of Pennsylvania, and the American Red Cross in Washington, DC.

The Vow From Hiroshima is a poignant documentary that delves into the life of Setsuko Thurlow, a remarkable survivor of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. At just 13 years old when the bomb devastated her city in 1945, Setsuko’s harrowing experience is vividly captured in this intimate portrait. The film chronicles her enduring friendship with second-generation survivor Mitchie Takeuchi, offering a moving narrative of resilience and determination.
