TB Ward’s painting series ‘THE RUBICON’ and Susan Richman’s photographic collection ‘CRUDE FUTURES’ confront our knife-edge environmental moment with their upcoming shows at Upstream Gallery in Hastings On Hudson, NY.
Richman explores environmental collapse through botanical specimens partially submerged in crude oil, reflecting our dependence on the fossil fuels that are driving ecological decline.
Ward’s paintings ask, is the story somewhere in those tunneled glimpses of the natural paradise that we exist within, and in those places emerging that we must endure once we have totally wrecked it?
