In Honor of Women’s History Month:
Renowned Jazz Vocalist Andrea Wolper Makes Debut Concert Appearance
With a Special Concert Highlighting Women Songwriters
at Peekskill’s BeanRunner Café, Annual Lady Got Chops Festival

“Pure joy, artistry, musicality and creativity all rolled into two words: Andrea Wolper!
This truly was a night to remember!”
“The music, artistry and the thread that was woven on stage was pure magic!
Thank you, Andrea, for giving us this night.”
“Thank you for your music that makes our hearts soar, our eyes twinkle, and our days lighter.”

These are just a few audience member raves recently recorded in jazz vocalist Andrea Wolper’s guest book. A mainstay of the New York jazz scene, Andrea has headlined in top clubs including the Blue Note, Dizzy’s, Birdland, Mezzrow, the 55 Bar, Zinc Bar, and innumerable others. Rooted in jazz traditions, the vocalist, songwriter, and arranger’s wide-ranging tastes and multidisciplinary talents have led her to forge her own path. In her capable hands, swinging jazz standards, heartfelt ballads, imaginatively arranged songs from a number of genres, and her lauded originals all work together, “delivering an inventive, thrilling, appealing musical vision.” A natural host, this versatile vocalist puts audiences at ease.

“Wanderlust,” Andrea’s 2024 album and her fourth as a leader, was praised as “magnificent,” “truly exceptional,” “an early candidate for year-end “Best Of’ lists,” and Andrea herself has been called “exquisitely masterful,” a singer “who brings songs to life,” and “a brilliant musical storyteller.”

Andrea tours in the U.S. and abroad. Included in The Jazz Singers: The Ultimate Guide (Scott Yanow, Backbeat Books), she has also been noted as “a terrific arranger,” and her songwriting has been called “easily superior.” In addition to leading her own projects, she records and performs for other artists across jazz genres, boasting an impressive discography.

Andrea will appear at the BeanRunner with Roberta Piket (piano) and Ken Filiano (double bass). In honor of Women’s History Month, the set will give special attention to songs written by women, from Abbey Lincoln to Joni Mitchell, and more.

“There’s a light in Wolper’s voice that illuminates even the darkest moments.”
