Footloose

The Iona Prep Players will present “FOOTLOOSE” on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m./7 p.m., at the new Iona Prep Paul Verni Fine Arts Center, 255 Wilmont Road, New Rochelle, N.Y.
This marks a significant milestone being the inaugural musical staged in the new 21,000-square-foot facility. Highlighted by a 409-seat auditorium with professional-grade lighting and sound, it is the home of the Prep Players.
“Footloose” is a musical based on the popular 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon as a teenage boy from Chicago. He and his mother move to the small town where he attempts to overturn the ban on dancing instituted by the efforts of a local minister.
Ren McCormack, a charismatic outsider, challenges the status quo as he ignites a rebellious spirit within the community, advocating for the freedom of expression through dance. With its iconic soundtrack featuring hits like “Footloose,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and “Almost Paradise,” this high-energy musical will have you tapping your feet and singing along from start to finish.
