Become Heart Smart: Understanding Heart Disease in the African American Community

February is Heart Month. Join NewYork-Presbyterian for a special program entitled: Becoming Heart Smart: Heart Disease in the African American Community. The event will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, 7:00pm to 8:00pm, Via Zoom.

According to the American Heart Association 60% of African Americans over the age of 20 are suffering from some form of cardiovascular disease. To better understand how to reduce your risk for a heart attack or other cardiac event, join Naa-Solo Tettey, PhD, a NewYork-Presbyterian researcher who will address the following:

~ Factors Leading to Poor Heart Health
~ Undiagnosed Heart Issues in Young People
~ Why is Heart Disease Higher Among Black Women
~ Understanding Heart Failure
~ Heart Attack Symptoms and When to See the Doctor

All are welcome to attend this free program co-sponsored by the Port Chester/Rye and Peekskill branches of the NAACP. Pre-registration is required.
