An Afternoon of Two Live Radio Plays: “Forbidden Planet” & “St. George and the Dragon”

FREE tickets will be available at the Circulation Desk beginning December 1st. Limited to the first 60 people.
The Dr. Deceiverini Players presents an afternoon of two live Radio Plays: “Forbidden Planet” and “St. George and the Dragon.”
“Forbidden Planet”: Based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest, this play was also made into a movie famous for inspiring much of the original TV series Star Trek. Characters from Shakespeare are transformed into the futuristic characters of the radio production.
“St. George and the Dragon”: a Mummer’s Christmas Play from Old England, a Farce. Mummers plays were performed during the winter solstice in every English village since medieval times.
The Dr. Deceiverini Players is a volunteer acting troupe that has performed free live performances since 2013. They recreate the experience of radio dramas from the 1930s and 1940s, when the acting, music, and sound effects were all performed on stage in front of a live audience and transmitted live to those listening at home.
The Dr. Deceiverini Players, known as “Deceiverinis,” are volunteer non-professionals like you and me. Fred Matzner, the Artistic Director, formed the group in 2013 with the guiding principle that everyone has ability to perform if they are given the chance. All are welcome to participate. Featured actors include: Katrina Suarez, Genna Westwood, Keena Ganesan, Lourdes Franco, James Addiss and Cliff Elkind.
