Raymond Opticians Relocates to Larger Quarters

For 33 years the familiar name of Raymond Opticians has been a fixture on North Broadway in Tarrytown.  This month, Raymond’s has moved into a new and larger location at 35 N. Broadway (at the corner of Broadway and Central Avenue). Not only are the new quarters considerably larger, but its location on a corner has led to a much bigger and brighter window area.  Continuing with the store, will be manager Dennis Sayer, who has been with Raymond’s for the last 30 years following his graduation from NY Technical Institute. Sayer indicated that the new Tarrytown location will add  an optometrist, expanding that service as the need increases.

The first Raymond’s was opened in Mt. Kisco in 1959 by Raymond A. Kolkmann, and has grown to twenty locations in the lower Hudson area.

The stores are now handled by Raymond’s son, Raymond J. Kolkmann,  with some 20 other members of the family currently working throughout the organization.

Each store, including the Tarrytown location, provides comprehensive eye exams, prescription eyewear, contact lenses and designer sunglasses.  All stores carry a selection of over thirty designer brands of trendsetting eyewear and sunglasses that are covered under most vision plans. Quoting the  store brochure, owner Kolkmann states, “ We are looking forward to additional generations of customers coming into the new Raymond Optician store in Tarrytown and to serving their future eyewear needs in the years ahead.”
