Meet Hudson!
Hudson is a 2-year-old mixed breed rescue who was originally identified as a Border Collie mix and brought to the Northeast from a kill shelter in Texas. At just 3-months-old and 15lbs, the sweet and gentle little fluff ball captured our hearts, and we knew he had to join our family despite his large paws. After DNA testing, it turns out Hudson has zero Border Collie and is a mix of Golden Retriever, Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, German Shepherd, and Siberian Husky. We were shocked to say the least as the results were revealed, but we loved him just the same.
Now fully grown at 80lbs, Hudson is a goofy, playful, loving, squirrel watching, big ball of energy. He enjoys long walks along the Hudson River and in Rockefeller State Park Preserve and is compelled to greet every person or dog walking past. He loves when you throw a ball for him to collect, but don’t expect him to bring it back to you. He much prefers you chase him and try to get the ball back. Don’t underestimate him though, he is loaded with puppy energy and will hide behind bushes, pretend to tire out and then make you chase him all over again. Often, we end up collapsed on the grass unable to keep up and match his energy. This is when he plops down beside you and drops the ball with a big smile and tongue hanging out as you both soak in the sun and relish in the fun you’re having.
After enjoying endless playtime, Hudson loves to unwind curled up on his blanket on the couch, laying on the balcony watching the squirrels run around, or chewing a bully stick. He brings our family so much joy and we hope you stop and say hi to Hudson if you ever see him around town.
