Meet Bucky!
Bucky (AKA James Buchanan Barnes, The White Wolf, or simply “Mr. Sir”) is a four year-old AKK (Alaskan Klee Kai), ironically from Nevada…about as far from Alaska as it gets weather-wise. He now resides with his human parents, Jessie & Adam, in Briarcliff Manor.
His breed is a mix of Husky & Spitz, but the AKK became recognized as its own breed in the 1990s. Bucky loves pool water but prefers to enjoy lakes from the shore. His nemesis is a rabbit, dubbed “Bunnicula”, who eats the flowers outside of Bucky’s front-of-house “perch” (which is really just some blankets on top of a couch by the window). He spends most of his days up there, looking out at the “exciting action” on our very quiet, very non-exciting block.
After moving to Westchester from NYC, Bucky has found he prefers hikes in nature to the bustle of a busy street. As a small guy, he is often wary of someone bigger than him entering his Safe Zone. This Nervous Nellie is slowly growing into his new environment and showing off his sweet side. We often say that Bucky is too smart for our own good. His favorite trick is “Spin” (just what it sounds like), and if he doesn’t know what you want from him, he’ll likely just keep spinning in circles until he either gets a treat or gets too dizzy!
Bucky is thrilled to be the Pet of the Month, although he believes he was the obvious front-runner. He’s a bit narcissistic like that.
