The 19th Annual Rotary Rubber Duck Derby and Family YMCA Healthy Kids Day is scheduled for Patriot’s Park on April 25th from 11 – 3 (Rain date, May 2nd). A full day of family activities are planned, including rides from FunFlatables, face-painting, games, arts and crafts, music and more.
You can adopt your rubber ducks on line at www.tarrytownrotary.org or purchase you YMCA bracelets at the YMCA tent the day of the event.
This community-friend raiser is a great way to put some play in your day. You can take photos with the Rotary Ducks who will be in their nest decorated by Celebration Creations. Join the National YMCA initiative to reduce screen time and increase family fun time. Back by popular demand, will be the Bubble Bus and two STEAM based activity partners, Mad Science and MakeInspires. The Y offers $10 wristbands for children (2 years and up) at the Y tent, which provides access to all rides, games and activities. The Y Tent is conveniently located near the entrance to the park on Route 9.
Rotarians race the rubber ducks with Hope Hose and Conqueror Fire houses providing the water power to propel the rubber ducks down the stream. Over 2,000 rubber ducks are raced in 6 races with the winners of each race winning $100. The winners of each race then compete in the final race for the grand prize of $1500.
Food will be available for purchase from various food vendors and Engine 79, Hope Hose Co No 1 of the TFD will BBQ their famous burgers and hotdogs. Come spend the day and visit one of the many local businesses and community organizations who will be participating and learn more about valuable community resources.
The Tarrytown Rotary Club and the Family YMCA began working together in 2007 with the Rotary Club organizing the Rubber Duck Derby and the YMCA organizing Healthy Kids Day.
Races begin at 11:15 and continue every 30 minutes until the final heat at 2:30. Between races, families can enjoy the YMCA activities.
