The Ossining Early Childhood PTA (OEC PTA) announced its annual Read-A-Thon fundraiser, an initiative designed to foster a love of reading while raising funds to support early childhood education programs in the Ossining community. This engaging event invites the 1,300 Pre-K through second-grade students to participate in a fun and rewarding challenge to read as much as they can while collecting sponsorships from family, friends, and community members. This year’s goal is to raise $25,000 and read 75,000 minutes across both Park and Brookside Schools.
The Read-A-Thon, which started on March 17 and runs through March 31, encourages children to immerse themselves in books, tracking the minutes they read each day. Participants will log minutes online and receive special incentives to keep them motivated throughout the event.
Funds raised from the Read-A-Thon will go directly toward author visits, back to school events, school dances, field trips, community gatherings, teacher appreciation, nature walks, end of year celebrations, and much more. The OEC PTA invites families, local businesses, and the broader Ossining community to participate by sponsoring young readers or making direct donations to the initiative.
