For the 39th year, the Ossining Presbyterian Church, 34 South Highland Ave. (opposite Ossining High School) will be the scene of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner party. The festivities begin at noon on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28.
The entire community is invited. Some guests come for good food and companionship; some come because of the live music that plays in the background and the hospitality. Last year, 200 meals were delivered to those who requested them and 120 people were served in the Fellowship Hall, with most of them taking meals home afterward.
The menu is mashed potatoes and gravy, dark and light turkey meat, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce. Apple and pumpkin pies finish off the meal. Three churches work together to make this happen: the Scarborough Presbyterian Church, the Briarcliff Congregational Church, and the Ossining Presbyterian Church. Many people from the community pitch in to help cook, serve, clean, and drive meals to homebound folks. In every sense of the word, it is a community dinner party.
Anyone who would like to volunteer, or want a meal delivered, can call the church office at 914-941-0540 and leave their name and phone number.
