The much-awaited $2 million repaving project on Route 134, from the New Castle Town line to Route 9A in Ossining, is now underway.
“The repaving of this vital thoroughfare is good news for drivers, businesses, and residents, who have had to contend with rough road surfaces, potholes, and flooding,” New York State Senator Pete Harckham said. “I thank the New York State Department of Transportation for making this project a priority. We will continue to work with our local partners to ensure that our state road receive the attention they urgently need. I thank Assemblymembers Levenberg and Burdick for their partnership in this effort as well.”
“I am so pleased to see repaving begin on another state road in my district,” Assemblymember Dana Levenberg said. “Poor road conditions are a huge problem all over the Hudson Valley, and getting our roads fixed is among my highest priorities. I am grateful to the NYSDOT for hearing our pleas and taking action once again. I will continue pushing until all of our troubled roads are in tiptop shape.”
“I am delighted that this important project, which Senator Harckham and I have been advocating for, is going forward,” Assemblymember Chris Burdick said. “I am grateful to Governor Hochul for making it possible, and plaudits as well to the Regional Office of the Department of Transportation for recognizing that Route 134 is in dire need of repaving. This will improve the safety of all those using the roadway.”
The $2 million project will resurface a five-mile stretch of the east-west roadway, which is an important link in Westchester County and vital to the economy and quality of life of the area. The work will include drainage improvements where feasible. Work is scheduled to be completed in early December, depending on the weather.
