Goodbye, Ocean House Oyster Bar & Grill. Hello, D Thai Kitchen and Sikkim Hut.
The restaurant shakeup started at 49 N. Riverside Ave. in Croton-on-Hudson when Ocean House owners Paula and Brian Galvin decided to close after 21 years.
“We have been truly blessed to have an amazing group of talented and professional people working with us in both the front and back of the house without whom this journey would never had been possible,” the Galvins wrote in a September social media post. “We sincerely thank them and you, our wonderful customers and friends who have been there for us through thick and thin.”
That set the stage for the arrival of D Thai Kitchen, a popular eatery that was a mainstay along Commerce Street in Thornwood for 15 years. The cozy, family-run restaurant gained a loyal following for its authentic cuisine, creative specials and friendly, laid-back vibe.
In early October, a banner announcing D Thai Kitchen’s arrival in Croton hanging from the building read: “We’ve moved! After 15 years in Thornwood, D Thai Kitchen is now part of your neighborhood!” D Thai formally opened on Oct. 31.
Meanwhile, the Thornwood location won’t be without a restaurant for very long. A banner outside the Commerce Street building announced the pending arrival of Sikkim Hut, “The Taste of the Himalayas,” offering Nepali, Tibetan, Indian and Indo-Chinese cuisine.
