A scenic campus in Ossining, once an exclusive corporate retreat, has opened its doors to the community for special occasions, vacations or an occasional morning cup of coffee.
Windrose on Hudson, 62 rolling, wooded acres off Shady Lane Farm Road, is marking its second year following a re-branding of GE’s Crotonville Conference Center named for CEO, Jack Welch.
The name Windrose is drawn from a previous owner, Harry Hopf, an expert on corporate management. GE turned it into its leadership training institute in 1956. It was sold in 2024 and is now owned by Pyramid Global Hospitality.
The new owners have made the vibe more welcoming to guests arriving for occasions such as weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs and family reunions — any gathering ranging from 30 to 200 people. Staycationers are also invited to enjoy a relaxing weekend.
They’ve created a series of signature events, including a Mother’s Day brunch and a holiday market in December.

Indoor and outdoor venues, an on‑site hotel, curated culinary experiences and event planning services make Windrose a place to escape, reconnect and celebrate life’s milestones, said General Manager Luis Fornis.
“Windrose on Hudson is a longtime hidden gem and with our debut this year as a social event destination, we are poised to become one of the Hudson Valley’s most desirable settings for unforgettable gatherings,” Fornis said.
The venue maintains Crotonville’s profile as a corporate destination, with learning labs, meeting rooms, dining and recreation areas that’s been drawing the likes of Fortune 500 companies from around the region and around the globe for conferences and meetings.
Windrose comprises an array of meeting and event spaces, centerpieced by Croton Hall, home to the elegant main dining room and 188 guest rooms; The Village, with guest rooms and training areas; an intimate dining venue dubbed the Carriage House; a barn refashioned as a meeting space; and The Greenhouse, with a screening-room setup.
The new River Fox restaurant, available for private events, offers craft cocktails, wines and a seasonal menu created from locally sourced ingredients. Guests can play a game of pool, ping pong, darts and check out the karaoke room for private events

Cafe 56, where you’ll be served by baristas like longtime staff member Pablo Torres, is a rustic coffee shop open to the public on weekdays (call ahead) with breakfast items like croissants and muffins created by pastry Chef Paul Cozza-Rodas.
The versatile property also contains a helipad, fitness center, outdoor fire pits and fireplace, hiking and biking trails, volleyball and basketball courts, a bar and game room.
Windrose is an official festival sponsor for three upcoming events: Hudson River Festival on June 21 in Croton; Pleasantville Music Festival on July 11 and the Sleepy Hollow Music Festival on Oct. 3. Hotel rooms are discounted for festival goers.
