From critically acclaimed dramas to standout comedies, Westchester continues to play a pivotal role in the industry’s most celebrated content.
Topping the list of nominees are “Severance” and “The Penguin,” with 27 and 24 nominations, respectively—the highest of any series this year.
Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “To have 61 Emmy nominations tied to productions filmed in Westchester County is a powerful validation of our role in the film and television industry. These accolades reflect the depth, versatility, and production value our communities offer. With more than $924 million in economic impact and a 51% increase in industry-related jobs last year alone, Westchester has firmly established itself as one of the most production-ready destinations.”
Apple TV+’s “Severance,” which has filmed at locations including Bier House in Pleasantville’s midcentury modern Usonia neighborhood and Trinity Lutheran Church in White Plains, earned 27 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, along with nods for acting, directing, editing, production design, choreography, and casting.
Ryan Smith, second unit director and supervising location manager for “Severance” said: “Westchester has a great variety of housing stock, amazing architecture, stone walls, big boulders, and beautiful and geologically chaotic landscapes that contribute to a look that’s not anywhere else. Westchester is so strong visually that it helped inform the whole look of the show. There’s a richness and authenticity you can’t fake.”
HBO Max’s “The Penguin,” shot at Sleepy Hollow Country Club and various Yonkers locations that doubled as Gotham City, followed closely with 24 nominations—including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and recognition for acting, production design, cinematography, costumes, and editing.
