Celebrate America’s 250th birthday on the Fourth of July with the inaugural performance of The Nimham Washington Legacy on historic Constitution Island. The outdoor event begins at 2:00 PM, offering audiences a unique blend of live history and music featuring a star spangled cast and acclaimed artist Daisy Jopling and her band, set against the backdrop of the West Point Military Academy.
Written by Evan Pritchard and directed by Michael Quinn, the performance explores the profound relationship between George Washington and Chief Daniel Nimham, Putnam County’s Native American son and Revolutionary War hero. Attendees will discover how their alliance shaped the fight for American independence in a location central to the war effort. General Washington famously designated Constitution Island as “the Key to America,” recognizing it as perhaps the most vital defensive position in the nation’s history.
This early-afternoon celebration pairs a powerful historical drama with music inspired by the era. Guests can enjoy the performance while taking in extraordinary, panoramic views of the Hudson River and West Point.
