BLOOM: Autumn Reflections explores how natural landscapes shift and change over time. This program pairs two early 20th-century floral cycles with contemporary responses to our environment.
Featured works on this program include: Dora Pejačević’s Blumenleben (The Life of Flowers), which traces the changing seasons of a garden through a series of floral portraits, beginning with early spring snowdrops to late-autumn chrysanthemums; Andrea Casarrubios’s Silbo (2021) draws inspiration from the whistled language of Silbo Gomera in the Canary Islands; Paul Wiancko’s Cello Sonata No. 1 “Shifting Baselines” (2020) reflects on the gradual change to our perception of the environment as ecosystems transform over time.
